"Crimson Red Dining Nook" Vibrant updates for this design project! A farmhouse style home in the Northwest built in 1910 will dazzle with rich touches of red. The brilliant reds woven throughout the wool rug from Mafi International rugs are highlighted by a silk trellis pattern which ties in beautifully with the existing original wainscoting. Due to the exposed high ceilings, a bistro table from Nichols & Stone was needed to maintain scale and balance. The red dresser, designed by Nichols & Stone, serves as a continental buffet for guests, and much needed storage for the heirloom silverware collection.
This inspiration for this design is derived from childhood memories. My grandparent’s interior style has always been based on good solid oak wood, shades of red, Impressionist riffs of still life fruit centered on the wall in the dining room. And the fabrics were checker board, classic bandana motifs, toile, and chintz covered pendant lights. Red and black fabric with a touch of green. Worn well, riding boots stood tall, and crops dangled on hooks. Caste iron and copper ruled the kitchen. Horses and hay, outside was farm central, resplendent with apple orchards a plenty and a Badminton court. My Grandparents, Bee and Bo, were (and still are) so hip and stylish. Their design palate was based off of the Equestrian sensibilities, traversing the globe and constant quest for knowledge. Love and live – Farmhouse Style!
